Birmingham Hotels and Accommodation

(Birmingham, West Midlands, England, UK)

There is a distinct lack of budget accommodation in the city of Birmingham, and there are no youth hostels located here whatsoever. That said, there are plenty of affordable chain hotels spread around central Birmingham, combining convenient locations with affordable lodging rates.

Further hotels stand just outside of the city, such as the Hilton Metropole and the Crowne Plaza, both of which are close to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham Airport and the M42 (junction 6). For a spot of luxury accommodation in the heart of the city, consider spending a night or two at the Hyatt Regency on Bridge Street, which is just a stroll from Broad Street, the International Convention Centre and the National Indoor Arena.

Also popular with visitors is the rather swish and very centrally located Holiday Inn Birmingham City, which is surprisingly quite upmarket and conveniently close to the New Street railway station. Comprising almost 250 guest rooms and spread over ten floors, this Holiday Inn hotel stands in the Queensway area of the city.

Only a handful of B&Bs are situated within Birmingham city centre itself, with many small guest houses offering accommodation on the outskirts of the centre, in areas such as Acocks Green, and between Selby Oak and Edgbaston.

Alternatively, reliable mid-range hotels in the heart of the city include the Ramada on Wharfside Street, the Paragon Hotel on Alcester Street, and the Ibis Birmingham on Ladyhill Walk, within the Chinese quarter and near to the Arcadian complex. Also of note are the Jurys Inn and Novotel hotels, both of which reside on Broad Street and feature modern accommodation and facilities, highly suitable for business travellers.
