Federico Garcia Lorca Granada Jaen Airport (GRX) Information
(Granada, Andalucia, Spain)
In the year of 2006, the airport serving the ancient Andalusian city of Granada was renamed after Federico Garcia Lorca, one of the city's most famous poets. The airport also contains the name of another city in the middle of southern Spain, Jaen, which is within relative proximity.
The Federico Garcia Lorca Granada Jaen Airport's single terminal recently began welcoming seasonal flights from
Paris, in addition to its regular domestic flights from
Madrid,
Barcelona and several of Spain's popular Mediterranean Sea island holiday getaways. The terminal handles both departing and arriving flights.
Since 2000, the annual passenger traffic has increased dramatically from just fewer than 510,000 people to roughly 1.5 million individuals. Business travellers may like to note that the Granada Jaen Airport is just a five-minute drive away from a good quality hotel offering business conference facilities.

Cars and Taxis
The A92 motorway, which locals call the Autovia de Andalucia, runs along the northerly side of the Federico Garcia Lorca Granada Jaen Airport. This is the motorway connecting the city with the Autovia de Sierra Nevada and the A329. The E902 is the main route between Jaen and Granada.
Although motorists rarely encounter traffic jams on any of these motorways, the city's central district can get congested at times. Of note, taxis wait for arriving passengers in the Arrivals area.
Buses
Although no private bus companies operate at the airport, a number of nearby hotels do choose to supply their own shuttle services. Granada's public bus network makes several stops between the Arrivals area and the Palacio de Congresos convention centre. The bus journey into Granada city centre takes roughly 15 minutes.
Visitors wishing to make bus journeys to the Alhambra fortress and the medieval Albayzin (Albaicin) district must take one of the special red-and-white Alhambra minibuses, which are able to travel where regular buses are a little too big and cumbersome to venture.
