Getting Around, Lynton and Lynmouth Travel, Transport and Car Rental
(Lynton and Lynmouth, North Devon, England, UK)
There are several ways to travel around the Lynton and Lynmouth area and make the very most of the beautiful scenery. Several places around the
Exmoor National Park hire mountain bikes, while many visitors simply prefer to drive to their chosen destination, or use local bus transport.
Local North Devon bus transport is quite reasonable and Lynton and Lynmouth offer good connections with neighbouring villages and towns throughout the Exmoor National Park and beyond, such as Ilfracombe, Minehead and Porlock. Of course, the iconic Cliff Railway is perhaps the ultimate way to travel here, linking the two towns with ease for more than a century.

Car Rental
Driving around Exmoor with your own vehicle provides an unsurpassable level of freedom, allowing you to utitlize your time well and plan your day. There are a number of prominent roads close by. If you are travelling along the M5 motorway, you will need to depart at Tiverton (junction 27) and then take the A361 towards Allercross and South Molton, before joining the A399 to Lynton and Lynmouth. Alternatively, exit the M5 at junction 24 and then travel along the A39 to Exmoor. This coastal route is especially scenic, although since it takes in the rather steep Porlock Hill, it is not really considered to be suitable for caravans.
