Sydney's climate is particularly mild and temperate, with fine weather throughout the year. The summer months of December, January and February are known for their high temperatures and cloud-free skies.

The autumn months of March, April and May are delightful and this is one of the most popular times of the year to visit Sydney, with fine days and particularly mild nights. Spring in Australia is between September to November, when daytime temperatures range from 20°C / 68°F to 26°C / 79°F.


The summer climate sees average temperatures of around 25°C / 77°F, although with extremely sunny Sydney weather, these temperatures can exceed 40°C / 104°F. Bush fires are not uncommon during the spring and summer months, and likewise hail storms and strong winds, although cyclones do not make an appearance here.

Rainfall is spread relatively evenly throughout the year, with precipitation levels being a little higher during the first six months. August and September tend to be the driest months year on year.
