Sydney is home to in excess of 40 scenic, popular country clubs and golf courses, many of which really are just a short drive away from the city centre.

The Bondi Golf Course, in the easterly North Bondi district, has the added attraction of spectacular ocean views. With nine-holes, a pro shop, instructors and a clubhouse, this course comes highly recommended. Also very much of note and located to the south-west of central Sydney, the Captain Cook Golf Course is an easy nine-hole layout with particularly inexpensive fees.

Located approximately ten minutes to the south of the iconic Sydney Opera House is the appealing Moore Park Golf Course, which is near to the Royal Randwick Racecourse and not only boasts 18 holes, but also more than 50 floodlit driving range bays.

Bondi Golf Course

After your round at the Bondi Golf Course, you may like to take a trip to the Hugh Bamford Reserve or the Ray O'Keefe Reserve, although the beach is the top draw card here. Next to the beachfront, the Bondi Openair Cinema is a great place to head for an evening screening.

Captain Cook Golf Course

Attractions are plentiful at the Captain Cook Golf Course and include equipment hire, instructors, a clubhouse and scenic views. Beginners will enjoy the lack of challenges, although should expect to lose a few balls in the bushes and creek.

Chatswood Golf Course

Located between the northern districts of Chatswood West and Lane Cove North, next to the OH Reid Memorial Park and Ferndale Park, the popular Chatswood Golf Course is an attractively landscaped 18-hole course. With a large shop, lessons and a sizeable clubhouse, the course has a strict dress code.

Eastlake Golf Course

The Eastlake Golf Course can be found within the southerly suburb of Kingsford, next to Astrolabe Park, Kensington Park and just down the road from the David Philips Sports Field, where it features many challenging holes. With 18 holes, a well-equipped golf shop, practice facilities, a clubhouse and a bar, the course has a fairly strict dress code.

Manly Golf Course

Manly Golf Course, in the Northern Beaches area of the city, is one of the most picturesque courses in this area. Home to 18 holes, a pro shop, instructors, buggy hire, a large clubhouse and a popular restaurant and bar, green fees here are reasonably priced. Nearby you will find Keirlie Park, Lagoon Park and the Passmore Reserve.

Moore Park Golf Course

The Moore Park Golf Course, on the southern side of the city, is the most central course in Sydney. This popular 18-hole course has a par of 70, a well-stocked shop, putting greens and a highly regarded restaurant. Many top attractions are just a short drive away, including the city's Athletic Field, the Centennial Park and the Kensington Campus of the University of New South Wales.

Randwick Golf Course

Situated to the south-east of central Sydney, next to Long Bay and within the suburb of Malabar, the Randwick Golf Course is a large 18-hole course with very inexpensive fees. This landscaped course includes a small lake, a pro shop, a clubhouse, a bar and impressive ocean views. The adjacent Bay Window Bistro on Howe Street comes highly recommended.

Royal Sydney Golf Course

Founded as far back as the early 1890s, the Royal Sydney Golf Course, in the eastern Rose Bay suburbs, is one of the city's oldest and most prestigious courses. With impressive facilities and a number of challenging holes, the course is only open to members or their friends and features a strict dress code. Nearby places of interest include the Dangar Oval, Lyne Park and the Woollahra Playing Fields.
