Harbour viewThere are all kinds of tourist attractions within Paphos, all of which are aimed at the wealth of summer holiday makers. Families will no doubt favour the attractions of the Pafos Bird Park and Pafos Aquarium, while for the grown-ups, the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea beckon, boasting some excellent scuba diving opportunities in the form of coral reefs and shipwrecks.

The Aphrodite Water Park offers the ultimate fun way to cool down on a hot, sunny Cypriot day, with plenty of fun water slides and similar exciting attractions. By day, the beaches of Paphos are something of a tourist magnet, although at the end of the day when the sun begins to set, the atmosphere begins to change as the nightlife scene commences.


Aphrodite Water Park

This is an excellent themed water park, which provides all-day entertainment and lots of thrills for everyone, in the form of fast water slides, such as the Kamakazi, the Free Fall, the Five Lane Racer, the Black Hole and the Fast River. If you prefer something a little more relaxing and leisurely, then consider floating on a dinghy down the Lazy River, or spending time in the Wave Pool. Younger children are very well catered for at the Aphrodite Water Park, with the Kiddies Pool, Pirate Ship Slide and Mini Volcano. All visitors will be required to wear a wristband to record all of your expenses, which you will then be required to pay as you depart.

Nightlife

The Agiou Antoniou stretch is the place to be at night and is often nicknamed 'Nightlife Street', due to its high concentration of bars, clubs and similar attractions. The youthful vibe present by night within the resort is undeniable and some of the most popular nightclubs around Agiou Antoniou include Flairs, the Rainbow Disco, the Robin Hood Pub, the Woodyz Cocktail Bar and the Boogies Karaoke Bar.

Pafos Aquarium

A great attraction for all the family, children will always enjoy spending time at the Pafos Aquarium, which is located within the Kato Pafos area and close to the harbourfront. Visitors will find just over 70 different tanks and aquariums here, in all shapes and sizes. As well as housing fish and marine creatures, there are also some crocodiles and an onsite restaurant, offering views across the harbour as you dine. If you are looking for a fishy souvenir, then the gift shop may be of interest.

Scuba Diving

Visitors to Cyprus often enjoy exploring the underwater landscape and scenery beneath the surface of the Mediterranean, and the scuba diving opportunities around the coastline of Paphos are simply awesome. In total, there are in excess of 30 dive sites close by, with the best of these attractions including the Wreck of the Achilleas and the Valley of the Caves.

Further picture of scuba divingAlso extremely noteworthy is the Vera K shipwreck, which lies just 10 metres / 33 feet below the surface; and the spectacular Amphorae Reef, where ancient pottery can be found in shallow waters, next to a huge vessel beached on the coral reef. Located on the Posidonos (Poseidonos) in Kato Pafos, Cydive is a very reputable diving specialist and is a good place to hire dive equipment.

Pafos Bird Park

Regarded by many to be the very best zoo-type attraction on Cyprus, the Pafos Bird Park is home to far more than just birds and its name is more than a little misleading. Located on the northern side of Paphos and along the road to Coral Bay, the Bird Park is an absolute must if you are holidaying here with children. Apart from the multitude of colourful, exotic birds, the park also features some giraffes, antelopes, ostriches, goats, snakes, lizards and a collection of simply enormous old tortoises. There is also a playground area for children.
