Each year some 400,000 people come here, to soak up the enormous collection of art on display.

The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) is another very notable gallery and serves as the principal venue for contemporary visual and performance arts in Western Australia. Others may like to check out the neighbouring Fremantle Arts Centre, which is actually a historical landmark in its own right and started its life as a hospital, being constructed using convict labour in the 1860s.
