Brisbane Golf CoursesLocated on the southern side of the city and within the suburb of Yeerongpilly is the highly regarded Brisbane Golf Club, which ranks amongst the oldest courses in the whole of Queensland. Past events here have included the Holden Scramble, where visiting teams competed for the chance to play at the Twin Waters National Final (based on the Sunshine Coast).

Just across the Brisbane River and sited alongside the Indooroopilly Island Conservation Park, the Thomas Park Bougainvillea Gardens and the Sir John Chandler Park, the Indooroopilly Golf Club boasts a 36-hole course, free parking, personal coaches and seminar facilities.

Victoria Park Golf Course, the most central public course, is a well-designed 18-hole public course owned and managed by the Brisbane City Council. Attractions at Victoria Park include equipment hire, inexpensive fees, a large clubhouse and many seasonal golfing events.

Founded all the way back in 1896, the Brisbane Golf Club is certainly one to look out for, although do bear in mind that it does operate a strict dress code of shirts with collars, neatly tailored trousers or shorts, white socks and no metal spikes on shoes. The clubhouse is the perfect place to end your game (although you will be expected to change first), while a pro golf shop is on hand, selling designer sportswear and even providing a useful club repair service. If you are struggling with your game and in need of lessons, then teaching professionals are available from Monday to Saturday.

This famous 18-hole course is not to be overlooked and is highly regarded throughout Australia. The Royal Queensland is a championship course and has hosted a number of major tournaments. Worth noting, visitors are not accepted during weekends and on public holidays.
