Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) Information
(Savannah, Georgia - GA, USA)
Savannah Hilton Head International Airport is a busy hub, with most airlines flying to and from domestic locations, connecting many worldwide cities and capitals. Each year, the airport handles more than 1.5 million passengers and serves the Greater Savannah Region of Georgia.
The airport boasts a long and interesting history, with early flights to
New York and
Miami commencing all the way back in 1929. For several years before the first terminal building was built, passengers simply waited in an old trolley car. Today, things couldn't be more different and in the 1990s, a huge renovation project saw an investment of just under $70 million, when the present-day terminal was opened, complete with eight gates, which can be expanded to 19 gates.
