Although Valencia may have fewer gift shops than other major cities in Spain, this city does has much to offer in the way of shopping. Many streets in central Valencia are lined with shops, with the most noteworthy including the Calle Colón, the Calle Pintor Sorolla and the Calle Don Juan de Austria, with additional retail outlets located along the intersecting streets.

The Plaza del Ayuntamiento also boasts a variety of stores, with many charming speciality shops and boutiques nearby. The Mercado de Colón has become known for its enticing selection of local stores, with plenty of coffee shops and eateries for those wishing to take a break. Further shops in Valencia can be found close to Mercado de Colón, along the Calle Conde de Salvatierra.


For those looking for more authentic Valencia shopping, head to the vast Mercadillo La Romareda flea market along the Eduardo Ibarra, which is open every Wednesday and Sunday and is the perfect place for bargain hunters. The historic Mercado Central is also worth a visit and can be found along the Avenida César Augusto, offering a range of local produce for more than 100 years, opening Monday through Saturday.

Opening Hours

Most shops in the city open Monday to Saturday, with a small selection opening on Sundays. The shopping day in Valencia begins between 09:00 to 10:00 and shops remain open until as late as 20:00, with the majority of shops taking a long lunch break for several hours during the afternoon siesta time. Shopping hours are more limited on Saturdays, although major department stores, such as the prestigious El Corte Inglés, remain open from 09:00 through 21:00.

Alcampo

Mercado de Ruzafa
