Benidorm Shopping and Districts

(Benidorm, Costa Blanca, Spain)

Ranging from local flea markets to enormous shopping centres, Benidorm offers plenty of opportunities for some serious spending. Some of the most popular shops line the Avenida Martinez Alejos in the Old Town district, a notable shopping street which has been pedestrianised. Further stores can be found along the Passeig de la Carretera, where leather goods are plentiful, and around the spacious Plaza Major.

The Levante and Rincón de Loix districts are home to some of the town's best fashion boutiques, together with supermarkets and gift shops. For bargain hunters visiting Benidorm, be sure to head to the regular markets, which offer a mixture of local produce, handicrafts, antiques and bric-a-brac, including the Sunday El Cisne Flea Market, Altea's Tuesday market, and a particularly popular market in the centre, held on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Opening Hours

Most shops and shopping centres in Benidorm open from Monday to Saturday, with a small selection also opening on Sunday. Most Costa Blanca shops begin trading at around 09:00 or 10:00 and then close for a few hours during the hottest part of the afternoon, during traditional siesta time, reopening at around 16:00 or 17:00 and staying open right up to 20:00 or later. A number of large shops often remain open throughout the day, such as big supermarket chains.
