Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) / Arriving by Air

This regional airport serves both Bonn and Cologne and has seen increased passenger traffic since several budget airlines have begun to serve it. Operating three runways and two terminals, the airport offers passengers an excellent range of facilities. Airlines serving Cologne Bonn Airport include Air Berlin, Austrian Airlines, Continental Airlines, easyJet, Germanwings, KLM, Lufthansa and SAS. There are direct flights to the following international cities - Amsterdam, Barcelona, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Dublin, London and Paris, while domestic destinations include Berlin, Frankfurt, Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig and Munich. Bus transport and taxis are available for those needing to travel into the city.

Alternatively, visitors can fly into Frankfurt International Airport, 130 km / 80 miles to the south-east, and travel to Bonn directly from the airport, using local train transport, a journey of between one and two hours.

Car Rental

Exploring Bonn and its surroundings by rental car is easy and convenient, with the excellent road network and signage making getting around a breeze. Car rental travel outlets can be found in the city, at the airport and at the train station. Buses and Coaches

A multitude of long-distance coach operators provide transport from cities within Germany, including Bonn, as well as farther afield throughout Europe. Buses are modern and comfortable, and offer all the latest amenities. However, most people choose to travel by train, since this is often faster and train stations are better connected to Germany's overall transport infrastructure.

Taxis

Taxi transport in Bonn is extremely popular and most taxis can easily be hailed on the street. There are also taxis waiting in front of the main station. Most taxi drivers in Bonn are polite and well trained, and you will often find students moonlighting as taxi drivers. There is a base price for the first kilometre and a fee for every extra kilometre. Tipping is always appreciated.
