Berlin Hotels and Accommodation

(Berlin, Germany)

Now a very exciting 21st-century city, Berlin boasts a thriving accommodation scene to match its ever-increasing popularity. Hotels in Berlin are always extremely busy from May to September and if you have a particular spot in mind, do book ahead.

Each year, a number of new lodging options make an appearance in Berlin, with boutique hotels being particularly fashionable at present. If budget accommodation is your preference, then the city's selection of independent hostels will likely suit your needs, with most featuring a number of very cheap private rooms and even some self-catering apartments, as well as the more usual dormitory beds.

There are a selection of appealing places to stay both in and around central Berlin. The Mitte area is always a good choice for tourists, with accommodation in this district being just a stroll from many leading Berlin sights, and also handy for nightlife. However, the convenient location of Mitte does come at a price.

In general, hotels situated within the neighbourhoods of both Wilmersdorf and Charlottenburg do tend to offer the most competitive lodging rates in Berlin. Accommodation here often occupies historical apartment buildings from the 19th century, with many original features still remaining.

A very enjoyable area of Berlin is the Kreuzberg, where street cafes regularly spill outside and onto the pavements, next to shops and entrances of hotels. Also lively and offering a true taste of German life is Friedrichshain, although hotels are certainly less plentiful here than busier parts of Berlin, such as Mitte.
