The Peace Memorial Museum is a must-visit, for the insight it gives into Hiroshima's dark past as the site of an atomic bomb during WWII.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

This museum will likely spoil your day, yet is a fascinating and important addition to the Hiroshima Memorial Park. The collections and exhibits on display cover accounts given by atomic bomb victims and there are many photographs showing the unthinkable aftermath of the atomic bombing. Exhibits also cover Hiroshima's pre-atomic bomb history and the nuclear age. This museum should be at the top of your itinerary.

Health Sciences Museum

This museum is intended to promote health, and although not a major attraction, it can be a good indoor activity if you have some extra time on your hands. Interactive exhibits ensure that the Health Sciences Museum will catch the attention of children as well as adults, with videos and models guiding you through the human body.

Hiroshima City Comics Library

Not really a museum as such, the Hiroshima City Comics Library is a fascinating collection of almost 80,000 comics and comics-related materials. Visitors can trace the history of Japanese comics at the library, with hundreds of comics representing each era since comics have been in existence. The library allows members to read the books inside the building or in the park adjacent, while you can also borrow comics according to library regulations.

Culture and Science Museum for Children

A great attraction for all the family, the Culture and Science Museum for Children is known for its hands-on exhibits. Those with an interest in all things astronomical will be sure to enjoy the huge planetarium, where regular shows take you around the solar system and beyond.
