Genoa is located on the western Mediterranean, in the shelter of the surrounding hills and mountains. For many visitors, the best time of year to visit Genoa is the spring, when the climate is especially pleasant. In May, in particular, the sea is warm enough for swimming and the summer crowds have yet to arrive.

November is also the time of year when Genoa experiences its highest levels of rainfall.

Winters in Genoa tend to be relatively dry, mild and sunny, although visitors will inevitably also experience some periods of cloudy and a cooler climate in general.
