Particularly noteworthy are the Leipzig Botanischer Gartens (Botanical Gardens), where you will find many exotic plant specimens and colourful plantings.

For those simply looking for a recreational space, where they can indulge in a spot of sunbathing or picnicking, the Auenwald Park is hard to beat and lies in central Leipzig. Also popular is the Clara Zetkin Park, the Scheibenholz racetrack and Rosenthal Park.


Agra Park

Located on the very outskirts of Leipzig and encompassing well over 100 acres / 40 hectares, the Agra Park offers many excellent opportunities for an impromptu picnic and is an important green space in its own right. Many trade fairs and exhibitions also take place within the park's outbuildings and halls, while there is also plenty of interest for plant lovers.

Auenwald Park

A beautiful area of green stretching through the very heart of Leipzig, from north to south, Auenwald Park offers plenty of recreational activities, for both residents and tourists alike. Features include trails and pathways suitable for walking, jogging and cycling, while many people also come here to indulge in horse riding. Guided woodland walks are available and pass alongside the park's large lake area, which has become a haven for local wildlife.

Botanical Gardens (Botanischer Gartens)

The Leipzig Botanical Gardens were first laid out almost 500 years ago and are steeped in history. Owned and maintained by the University of Leipzig, these gardens contain many notable plant collections and seasonal colours. A number of pathways, flower borders, large trees and a butterfly house complete the main attractions.

Rosenthal Park

Rosenthal Park is a great place to relax and offers large expanses of meadowland, wildlife areas, open spaces, ponds, water features and play areas for children. If you are lucky to be visiting the city of Leipzig during the summer months, then you may be fortunate o enjoy one of the park's outdoor concerts or musical events.
