Close to Newcastle are a series of popular golf courses. There are 36 holes (the Filly Course and the Championship Colt Course) at the Close House Club in Hexham, together with sweeping scenery set alongside the River Tyne, undulating greens and frequent PGA pro-events.

Within the city boundaries is the highly regarded City of Newcastle Golf Club, which dates all the way back to 1891 and has seen many changes over the subsequent decades. A well-equipped clubhouse is on hand, where you can sit back and relax whilst enjoying uninterrupted views of both the first and last holes.
