Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) is one of the fastest expanding airports in the United Kingdom and has exceptional modern facilities.
Opened in 1930, this is one of the oldest in the country and is named after famous Liverpudlian Beatle, John Lennon, with a dedication ceremony held in 2002. Liverpool's airport is an award-winning transport hub and is within easy reach of the city centre, being connected by the A562 (Speke Hall Road / Hillfoot Road / Menlove Avenue). Annual passenger numbers have steadily grown to top five million and major investments have ensured that the infrastructure is capable of coping with peak periods.

John Lennon Airport is situated 11 km / 7 miles to the south-east of central Liverpool and has good connections with Merseyside. This busy facility dates back to 1930, when it was actually part of the Speke Hall estate, and was privatised in 1990, being taken over by British Aerospace. Many improvements have been made over the past decade, including the reconstruction of the principal runway and taxiways. In 2010, John Lennon Airport changed hands once more, when Vancouver Airport Services negotiated a majority shareholding.

Terminals
Liverpool's John Lennon Airport has one large modern terminal, which was rebuilt in 2002 at the cost of more than £40 million, meaning that its overall size and capacity tripled. A number of different airlines are based here, including budget favourites EasyJet and Ryanair. Regular flights connect a number of destinations, including

Cars
Situated on the south-eastern side of Liverpool city, next to the famous River Mersey, John Lennon Airport is conveniently close to a number of main roads. Drivers will find that the city centre is well-signed and can be reached by heading towards the M56, Runcorn and the A561.
Buses and Coaches
There is a regular bus service linking the airport with Liverpool city centre. The Arriva Bus 80A travels to and from the Garston train station, Allerton, Mossley Hill, Toxteth and the city centre.
Coaches provide inexpensive long-distance services, being operated by National Express. Airport coaches travel to many nationwide cities and locations, including Birmingham, London and Manchester.
Taxis
Taxis are readily available at John Lennon Airport (LPL), gathering directly outside of the terminal. These traditional black cabs can accommodate up to five passengers and provide the easiest way to reach the city, with the journey taking a minimum of 25 minutes.
