Don't Forget to go to Bournemouth
Bournemouth is around 10 minutes drive from Poole, and there is much more to do there. The pier and main beach is great. We had a hot chocolate in the cafe at the end of the pier and watched the most amazing sunset I've ever seen.

Visit Brownsea Island
If you're staying in Poole, then you've got to spend an afternoon wandering around Brownsea Island, where there is a very good chance that you will spot a red squirrel or two. Boats leave all through the day from the quay and it's quite close by. If you are a member of the National Trust, entrane to the island is free, although you will still need to pay for the boat.
