The beaches in Poole are well-maintained and during the summer the fine sand is sifted and cleaned every day. Regional beaches include a range of activities and there are also seasonal dog-free zones (May to September) and special areas for jet-skiing, windsurfing and other popular watersports. The glorious Sandbanks has won more prestigious European Blue Flags that any other resort in the United Kingdom. Nearby, the popular Shoare Road and Branksome Chine offer excellent facilities for sunbathing, relaxing, swimming, watersports and general seaside activities.


Canford Cliffs is to be found between Shore Road and Branksome Chine and is one of the most natural beaches in the area. Attractions here include a steep sandy cliff face, a large amount of local wildlife, a refreshment kiosk and many local shops nearby.

Poole BeachesThe beaches in the Poole area are most busy between May to September and during this time there are a number of lifeguards that regularly patrol the coast. Dogs are also banned from the main stretches during the summer months.

Most beaches in the Poole area have deckchairs, windbreaks and parasols for hire and car parking areas are usually nearby. Weekly car parking permits are available for outside car parks, providing excellent value, particularly when visiting the spectacular beaches in this part of Dorset.

Some of the most popular award-winning stretches of beach nearby Poole include Alum Chine, Durley Chine and Southbourne, which are all easy to reach from the town centre and have allocated parking areas nearby.

Poole Summer Breeze

The Poole Summer Breeze is the town's largest beach party and one of the most event events held in the area. Stretching from Sandbanks to Shore Road, the Summer Breeze is held every Thursday night from June to August. The Summer Breeze is full of events and attractions, including live music, a fun zone for families, barbecue areas and a spectacular firework display at 22:00.
