Nebraska's capital city and also the seat for Lancaster County, the city of Lincoln is the second-largest of all the cities in the state, with its population being in the region of 265,000 residents. However, the Nebraskan capital is actually part of a larger metropolitan area, comprising both the counties of Lancaster and Seward.

As the state capital, Lincoln is a fairly busy city of government and sits within the southeastern quadrant of Nebraska, being within relative proximity to no less than three different state borders, namely those of Iowa (east), Missouri (southeast) and Kansas (south).
