Paraty Hotels and Accommodation

(Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

The popular resort of Paraty comes with a good selection of hotels and pousadas (Brazilian B&Bs), many of which are refurbished colonial houses and close to Jabaquara Beach. Demand for accommodation in Paraty peaks between December and February, with hotels quickly filling to capacity and lodging rates rising sharply.

Outside of the high season, locating accommodation is usually quite straightforward and affordable. However, local festivals can also affect the availability of hotels, with the Corpus Christi procession and the Festas Juninas events each June both proving to draw huge crowds to the town.

Where to Stay

More than 200 hotels and pousadas are based within the Historic Centre of Paraty, suiting those wishing to stay in the heart of the action. The Pousada Porto Imperial on the Rua Tenente Francisco Antonio is one such hotel, although it should be noted that by night, this part of town can become quite lively and noisy. Close by, the Pousada dos Contos lies on the western side of the Historic Centre and is a popular option, being near the Praca da Matriz and the Praca Monsenhor Helio Pires.

A handful of upmarket colonial pousadas are to be found in Paraty, combining luxury accommodation with character. These include the waterfront Pousada do Cais on the Travessa Santa Rita, the Pousada d Marquesa on the Rua Dona Geralda, and the Pousada do Ouro on the Rua da Praia. For lodging close to the beachfront, consider hotels standing on the Avenida Praia do Jabaquara, the Rua Pedro Primeiro or the Rua Orlando Carpinelli.
