Walking around the Piazza San Francesco
We enjoyed walkng around the Siena and exploring the streets, such as the Via dei Rossi and its beautiful dolphin lights. The Piazza Salimbeni is nearby and also very appealing. We finished our 'stroll' on the Piazza San Francesco, which was just lovely. It was a sunny afternoon and so we enjoyed a coffee at one of the nearby cafes. The Basilica of the Holy Franciscus dominated the Piazza San Francesco and dates from the early 14th century.

One of Italy's tallest belltowers
The Torre del Mangia is on the Piazza del Campo and is a real landmark in Siena, because it is actually the Italy's second-tallest belltower. It is just over 100 metres in height and so we thought it would be a good idea to climb to the top. Nice views, but a steep climb. The cathedral is close by, so you can easily do both in a few hours.
