This culturally rich facility is home to a world-class collection of art works with pieces from famous artists such as Vemeer, Rembrandt, Renoir and Boticelli, among others. German artists feature heavily at the noteworthy Stadel Art Museum, but a good balance in maintained throughout the collection.

Museum of Modern Art (MMK)

Part of the cultural scene in Frankfurt since the early 1980s, the Museum of Modern Art (MMK) is known colloquially as the 'Tortenstück', meaning 'piece of cake', on account of its triangular shape. The facility was designed by Austrian architect Hans Hollein and is home to a collection of modern art works from European and American artists, such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Donald Judd, Reiner Ruthenbeck and Claes Oldenburg.

This highly acclaimed art museum is home to a range of impressive sculptures, created by many famous artists. The Frankfurt Museum of Applied Arts and Craft Museum is set within particularly pretty gardens, complete with seasonal flowers and even a café. In total, the museum contains more than 25,000 different exhibits, many of which date back over 1,000 years and offer a glimpse into the past. This notable attraction was established towards the end of the 19th century and has gained considerable notoriety ever since.

Housing an impressive collection of religious Russian paintings, the city's Icon Museum, known locally as the Ikonen Museum, features art works dating back to the 16th century. Worth noting, the admission includes entrance to the adjacent Russian church.
