Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (TMP) Information

(Tampere, Pirkanmaa, Western Finland, Finland)

Residing within the district of Pirkkala and just a short distance from central Tampere is Finland's third-busiest airport. This fast-growing facility currently serves almost 65000,000 passengers annually and houses part of the Finnish Air Force.

The Tampere Pirkkala Airport began operations in 1936 within the district of Harmala, although its first terminal wasn't built until 1941. In the late 1970s, the original airport moved to the current site in Pirkkala, where two terminals now operate. Terminal 1 serves flights within the Scandinavia and Baltic Sea regions of Europe, while Terminal 2 connects passengers to mainland Europe.

Ryanair is the primary airline flying to the airport. It operates seasonal flights, as well as scheduled routes. Rome, Bremen, London and Frankfurt are some of its year-round routes. Air Baltic, Blue1 and Flybe Nordic provide connections to destinations such as Copenhagen, Helsinki, Riga and Stockholm.
