Osaka Castle
The Osaka Castle is a very detailed and authentic looking reconstruction of a much older castle from the 16th century. It was badly damaged after being bombed in 1945, be is now standing tall and proud once again. If you are here in the spring, then bring your camera, because you won't want to miss the cherry trees in full flower - unforgettable. You can walk around the grounds for free, but there is an entrance charge to the castle and its museum.

Visit the Osaka Aquarium - it's expensive, but worth it!
The aquarium is next to the Tempozan Harbor Village and a very short stroll from the Osakako station. Yeah, it does cost quite a bit to get in, but it really is a world-class aquarium with everything that you would expect and more. A lot of children come here in the week on school trips, so if you want to avoid the possibility of bumping into them, then come here after lunch. It is open until quite late (20:00) and so you will still have plenty of time. The later you leave it, the quieter it will be, although the penguins might well be asleep if you leave it too late like we did. No biggy though. I've seen pengiuns before!

Gotta Love the Dotonbori Bridge
This bridge is located in the Namba shopping area of Osaka and from here you can enjoy some lovely views, whatever the time of day - or night. The river appears very natural, but it in fact completely man-made and was constructed at the start of the 17th century.
