Dallas Churches and Cathedrals

(Dallas, Texas - TX, USA)

Religion in Dallas is greatly influenced by the sizable Protestant Christian community, although there are also numerous Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches scattered around the city. Churches are to be found at both the Dallas Baptist University and the Southern Methodist University, where they are integral to the overall ethos of the colleges.

Set against the backdrop of modern high-rise buildings, the historic Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe (Cathedral Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe) is actually the second-biggest of all the Catholic churches in the USA, with Sunday services being attended by more than 11,000 people.

The Cathedral of Hope is also of local religious significance in Dallas and resides within the Oak Lawn neighborhood, where it dates back to 1992 and comprises a congregation of mainly lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender worshippers.
