The South Carolina capital of Columbia is a relatively small city boasting a very central location in the state. As one of the earliest planned cities in the whole of North America, it features an organized downtown district with criss-crossing streets, a convention center and a nearby soccer stadium (the Eugene E. The western side of central Columbia is edged by the Congaree River, with Bicentennial Park, Granby Park and the Carolina Baseball Stadium all standing alongside the riverbank.
