Towne Landing in Charleston is an interesting park located on the site of the original 1670 settlement. Attractions include various exhibits depicting colonial history, a recreation of the village, and a full-scale replica of a 17th-century trading vessel.

Waterfront Park

Charleston's Waterfront Park can be found in the very heart of the downtown district, along the harbor. With many scenic seating areas, pathways lined with trees, shady spots, flower borders and grassy areas, one of the main attractions at Waterfront Park is the enormous Pineapple Fountain.

Hampton Plantation State Park

Established in 1735, the Hampton Plantation State Park gardens make a lovely spot for a picnic lunch and stroll, just as George Washington did back in 1791. The park is conveniently close to Charleston and popular with locals.

Isle of Palms County Park

Middleton Place

This is the home of the country's oldest landscaped gardens, which began life in 1741 in the style of formal English gardens of the time. Now a National Historic Landmark, Charleston's Middleton Place gardens feature ornamental lakes, terraces and lovely camellias, azaleas and magnolias. There is also a beautiful old house and an extremely popular restaurant.
