Cabo San Lucas Photos
(Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico)
Many of the cliffs around the coastline are crammed with traditional Mexican houses, which appear to be competing for the very best view. Although these houses are usually quite small, the surrounding scenery is truly breathtaking and more than makes up for their size and compact nature.
This picture shows a rooftop view of a local 'casita' (small house) next to the beachfront. Flat roofs is often used as an outdoor terrace space.
The coastline of Cabo San Lucas is quite breathtaking and combined with the sandy beaches, is the main draw card for tourists looking for sun and sand. There are a selection of popular beaches dotted around the shore, a number of which are favoured by those who enjoy scuba diving, snorkelling, swimming and fishing.
Fishing boats here come in all shapes and sizes, with many catering to tourists looking for a memorable sport fishing experience. Amongst the most prized catches are giant marlin, tuna and sailfish.
The Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort offers luxury beachfront accommodation, with outdoor swimming pools and superb views across the Sea of Cortez. Visitors will find the hotel situated part way between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, on the very tip of the Baja Peninsula.
The city's main marina has excellent facilities and more than 300 moorings. Many people sailing past the Baja Peninsula choose to stop off here and admire the panoramas.
Boats moored at the city's marina including both modern, upscale yachts and more traditional sailing vessels, the latter of which often feature daily cruises.
The Playa El Medano also goes by the name of the 'Dune Beach' and boasts several miles of beautiful sand and sea, suitable for swimming. A lively spot full of action, the Playa El Medano is a good place to come for a game of volleyball, frisbee or simply a spot beach fun, although don't expect peace and quiet here!
Parasailing is just one of the many water sports on offer around the coastline and is aimed at the lucrative tourist market. Also expect to find sea kayaks and canoes, water-skiing, windsurfing, jet skis and relaxing glass-bottom cruises.
Whale watching cruises provide something quite special, with the best sightings being likely between January and March. Expect to see some giant grey, blue and sperm whales - close-up.
