The National Gallery of Canada is one of the city's premier art venues and is housed in an impressive building, which was built in the late 1980s. An important part of the cityscape, the National Gallery stands in the central part of Ottawa and contains many extensive collections of paintings and sculptures, including art works by renowned artists such as Cézanne, Chagall, Constable, Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Pissaro, Rembrandt, Rodin, Rubens, Van Gogh and Warhol.
