Alicante Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

Featuring a Mediterranean climate, with hot summer weather and mild winters, Alicante is an appealing tourist destination. Influenced greatly by its coastal location, Alicante's legendary sandy beaches are popular year-round, although are busiest during the hot sunny weather in June, July and August.

The city of Alicante offers some of the best weather on the Costa Blanca and is protected by northern hills and mountains, creating a temperate and constant micro-climate, limiting the rainfalls. Alicante usually has no more than 20 days of rainy weather each year.



Spring

Spring is an inviting time of the year to visit Alicante, when the weather is pleasant and the fragrant flowers begin to emerge after their winter dormancy. Alicante's weather and climate in springtime starts to noticeably warm up and the beaches begin to become popular once more. Temperatures during February and March average around 15°C / 59°F, although by late April and early May, strong sunny weather results in temperatures of around 20°C / 68°F, often peaking higher.

Summer

Alicante's weather and climate is at its hottest from June through September, with summer highs in July and August of 27°C / 81°F, even reaching more than 30°C / 86°F on particularly sunny beaches. The summer months are one of the most popular times to visit Alicante, with hotels quickly becoming fully booked. Summer in Alicante offers a generally dry climate and rainy weather is uncommon, although any showers usually quickly clear. The coastline of Alicante tends to be cooler that the inland areas, with occasional cloudy weather.

The summer weather in Alicante heralds the main festival season, with many outdoor fiestas and carnivals. The balmy summer evenings mean that night time entertainment is well-catered for, with numerous restaurants offering al fresco dining areas and night clubs remaining open until the early hours of the morning.

Autumn / Fall

During Alicante's mild autumn weather and climate, the sandy beaches remain the city's premier draw card and water sports are also very popular at this time of the year. Daily temperatures during late September average around 23°C / 73°F, falling to 18°C / 64°F at the end of October.

Winter

Alicante's winter weather offers an extremely mild climate, with main warm, sunny days. Even during the winter months, rain in Alicante is scarce and temperatures usually remain well above 10°C / 50°F, with frosts and snowy weather being unheard of around Alicante's coastal areas. Alicante is at its quietest during the winter months and many hotels offer their most competitive rates during the winter months.
