Alicante and La Explanada
La Explanada typified everything about Alicante and has got to be the number one spot in the city. Everyone comes here, even the locals! This is a glorious park and it is right next to the main maritime promenade. It is a good spot for a stroll and is close to the harbour. There were lots of big palm trees and a tropical feel - a very Mediterranean flavour I think.

Go To Neaby Denia
I really recommend going to Denia. This is a really pretty little coastal town and is only about 50 miles from Alicante - so you've got no excuse not to go there, particularly when I tell you that there are more than 10 miles of sandy beaches, some of which are virtually deserted. So there is a good chance that you might have a beach all to yourself, or almost to yourself anyway. There are lots of nice places to eat and shop around Denia, and of course, Montgo Mountain Nature Park is another highlight.
