Truro is easy to find and drive around, making renting a car a popular option for those arriving without their own transport. Surrounded by many interesting locations and coastal resorts, Truro is around 390 km / 242 miles from London, 137 km / 85 miles from Exeter, 19 km / 12 miles from Newquay and 42 km / 26 miles from St. Ives. Prominent roads around the city include the A39 and the A30, which link Exeter to the far east, where you are able to pick up the M5 motorway.

Buses and Coaches

Various buses are available around the city and beyond. Truro's bus station stands along Lemon Quay and local city buses are operated by First Devon and Cornwall bus transport. Those looking to travel further afield will find that National Express coaches travel to many towns and cities all over England, often requiring a change along the way at Plymouth. Various economy packages are available for the main locations, which include London, Penzance and also St. Ives.

Located along Station Road, Truro Railway Station stands on the main line between both Penzance and London. Train transport is a fast way to reach Penzance (45 minutes), with regular trains travelling to Penzance every two hours throughout the day, while London Paddington is less than five hours away by train. A further branch line is available at the Truro Railway Station and provides travel to and from Falmouth (20 minutes), with the journey being exceptionally scenic, boasting views across the Perranwell viaduct and the harbour.
