Famagusta Restaurants and Dining

(Famagusta, Cyprus)

Photo of al fresco tablesWhen dining out in Famagusta, you will find that the restaurants are not as plentiful as in nearby, more touristy resorts, such as Ayia Napa. However, what is lacking in its quantity is certainly made up for in quality.

Large casinos in Famagusta feature a reliable choice of restaurants and similar eateries, providing somewhere to enjoy a meal before an evening of gambling, when complimentary drinks can be expected. If you prefer something a little less extravagant in the way of dining, then Turkish-style cafes and kebab parlours are at the other end of the scale, with cheap tasty meals, freshly prepared shish-kebabs, and selections of small Cypriot / Turkish dishes (mezes).

Where to Eat

Some of the best dining establishments in the Famagusta area of Cyprus include the Aspava Restaurant on the Liman Yolu Sokak and the Cyprus House on the Fazil Polat Pasa Bulvan.

Both of these eateries specialise in a variety of kebab dishes, and may even offer the odd belly dancer as entertainment.

Head out of Famagusta on the road to Ancient Salamis and you will find a further array of eateries, cheap dining venues and kebab outlets, serving dishes such as spiced lamb (Adana kebab), washed down with the local yoghurt drink known as 'ayran'.
