Famagusta Hotels and Accommodation

(Famagusta, Cyprus)

Photo of old church in the cityClose to both Ayia Napa and Salamis, Famagusta is a relatively popular Cypriot resort, with a reasonable choice of hotels close to the coastline, beaches, Famagusta Bay and the characterful Old Town district. However, accommodation in Famagusta is not the best that Cyprus has to offer, with slightly pricey lodging often being a little outdated, in need of improvement, and interestingly believed by many to have been built to launder money.

That said, there are some reliable hotels at Famagusta, whether or not you are on a tight budget. Families often look for cheap accommodation in this part of Cyprus, so that they are conveniently near to the ever-popular WaterWorld Waterpark and the attractions of North Cyprus.

Where to Stay

Some of the most reliable accommodation options around the Famagusta resort include the Crystal Rocks Holiday Village bungalows, the Bilfer Palm Beach and the Majestic Beach Hotel. Also of note is the Altun Tabya Hotel, which stands on the Altun Tabya Sokak and is a good choice for budget travellers, although the street below can be a little noisy.

Highly regarded is Famagusta's recently renovated Palm Beach Hotel, which although boasting five stars and being very decent inside, is hardly what you might call luxury five-star accommodation. Those lodging at the Palm Beach Hotel will be able to enjoy excellent views across the Maras closed zone and immediate access to the adjacent sandy beach.

Further accommodation around Famagusta comes in the form of Holiday Parks, which are often referred to as camping grounds are in particularly good supply nearby, in North Cyprus.
