Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) Information

(Raleigh, North Carolina - NC, USA)

The Raleigh-Durham International Airport serves the Research Triangle encompassing three major universities, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the high number of high-tech enterprises in the region. Situated close to Morrisville, the facility has a booming passenger throughput due to its convenient location, with around ten million arrivals and departures each year.

The complex is set in Wake County, equidistant from Raleigh and Durham, and dates back as a local air hub to the early 1940s, when it replaced the former Raleigh Municipal Airport. Although routes have been slashed due to the rising cost of aviation fuel and the facility is no longer a hub for international flights, Southwest Airlines, United, Delta, US Airways and JetBlue maintain services to a number of key US cities, including New York and Washington D.C., as well as Freeport, Toronto and Cancun.

The Raleigh-Durham International Airport has two terminals, as well as a dedicated general aviation terminal, with Terminal 1's central area recently enjoying much renovation work and general modernisation. Onward transportation from the complex is limited to rental car, bus, taxi and shuttle services.
