Raleigh's North Carolina Art Museum on Blue Ridge Road
The admission at the North Carolina Art Museum is completely free, so there is no good excuse to miss out on this one. There were paintings from all over the world and some nice early American pieces as well. The also often have visiting exhibitions here as well, with works by artists like Picasso and other big guns. I wish we'd been hear when they had one of their outdoor concerts in the amphitheatre, which was so big that it could seat over 400. They also csreen outdoor movies here as well, which must be a blast. I bought my holiday postcards from the gift shop.

The North Carolina State Fair
We were in Raleigh in the middle of October and I'm glad that we were, because we were able to experience a piece of the action at the North Carolina State Fair at Hillsborough Street. There were lots of fun rides and my whole family enjoyed our time here. The food and drink wasn't cheap, but we weren't that hungry anyway, so that didn't matter. We left before it really got going late into the evening. It was crazy busy by that time and the roads were a little chaotic, well a lot, so you might need to exercise some patience.
