Colorado Springs contains a surprisingly large number of churches, with over 400 Protestant and more than 20 Roman Catholic churches. A number of other faiths are also represented in Colorado Springs, including the Jewish Faith.

Located on the western side of the city centre, close to Acacia Park and the Penrose Public Library, St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral is particularly noteworthy and is actually the seat of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. This church was built in 1891 and features Gothic-Revival architecture, a rose window and a grand pipe organ, and now appears on the prestigious US National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
