Sacramento Shopping and Districts

The city is known for its art galleries, bookstores and antiques shopping, particularly Old Sacramento. While there is no Rodeo Drive or 5th Avenue here, the city offers some fine shopping opportunities, with many quality products being found within the downtown area and Old Sacramento.

Local shopping centers and malls generally open their doors at 09:00 or 10:00 and stay open for the duration of the day before closing at 21:00 or later on weekends. Local stores often open before the major malls and usually keep typical office hours, with the exception of those that are situated in the tourist areas of Old Sacramento and downtown.

Shopping Centers

Sacramento has a ubiquitous selection of all-American malls and chain stores, including the massive Arden Fair Mall and Roseville Galleria, which contain a selection of some of America's finest department stores. Downtown Plaza is ideal for exploration on foot, as is the established Town and County Village center.

Arden Fair Mall

The Arden Fair Mall is the city's largest shopping center, with scores of shops offering everything from the latest in fashion to bargain souvenirs. In addition, the Arden Fair Mall also has an excellent selection of eateries.

The Downtown Plaza is easy to get to and comprises various enticing retail and entertainment facilities dotted along the K Street Mall. There are also many stores and restaurants situated nearby and a Thursday night market in the summer.
