The daily local markets (mercados) are a good place to begin your shopping in Puerto Vallarta and whilst full of bargains, it is likely that you will need to search hard for the best quality goods and souvenirs.

Many visitors staying in Puerto Vallarta prefer to head to the centrally located shops, where you are able to purchase folk art, silver jewellery, beachwear, T-shirts, clothing and a host of fashion accessories. Various commercial art galleries are also popular in central Puerto Vallarta, selling an assortment of local handicrafts, hand-blown glass and wall hangings, especially around the Mercado de Artesanias on the Avenida Rodriguez.
