As well as impressive shoreline views and coastal scenery, the Malecon is also known for its extremely stylish modern sculptures. These art works are of a large scale and designed to be experienced close-up, being extremely tactile and often doubling up as a comfortable place to sit down. The most notable sculptures have been created by leading Latin American artists, such as Alejandro Colunga, Ramiz Barquet and Sergio Bustamante.
