Buzios Shopping and Districts

(Buzios, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

There are lots of shopping opportunities spread around Buzios, with many local stores selling speciality souvenirs and Brazilian handicrafts. Popular gift ideas include wood carvings, jewellery, handmade sandals, gem stones and various antiquities originating from all over Brazil.

Fashion stores also contribute greatly to the shopping scene in Buzios, with a number of particularly trendy boutiques and stores being clustered around the main beaches. This is a good place to pick up some colourful beachwear and sunglasses, as well as postcards and T-shirts.

Where to Shop

The main shopping street in Buzios is without question the pedestrianised Rua das Pedras, which has become central to life in this resort and remains busy throughout the day and night. To capitalise on the long daylight hours and wealth of tourists, shops in this part of Buzios often stay open until as late as midnight.

Many of the shops on the Rua das Pedras are interspersed with restaurants, Internet cafes and bars, suiting those needing to take a break and recharge their shopping batteries. Of interest, in the 1960s, famous French actress and fashion model Brigitte Bardot was a familiar sight in the town and was known to enjoy spending time strolling and window shopping along the Rua das Pedras.
