Buzios Museums and Art Galleries

(Buzios, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

There is little in the way of museums and galleries in Buzios, since most people really do come here to spend time sunbathing on the beautiful sandy beaches. However, that said, there are a number of museum-like attractions that may be of interest to the more discerning of holidaymaker cum culture vulture.

Located within the Tauá Ecological Reserve of Buzios is a small museum, which features a series of art works created by local artists from the state of Rio de Janeiro. This reserve is well worth visiting for its high concentration of native monkeys and endangered animals.

General Information

For art works in the town centre, take a stroll along the Rua das Pedras (the Street of Stones) and look out for the various commercial art galleries, which are dotted around this area and sell not only paintings and sculptures, but also an eclectic array of handicrafts fashioned by regional artisans.

The Flory Menezes Gallery is one such example situated on the Rua das Pedras, as is the Atelie Vilmar Madruga Galeria de Arte.
