Where to Stay

Those prepared to shop around will often find that cheap Lanzarote holidays are available, although the busiest summer months see a substantial rise in demand, and prices generally rise accordingly. The best deals are to be found outside of the summer, when the weather is still sunny and the temperatures high.

An especially noteworthy tourist resort in Lanzarote is the Costa Teguise, which can be found on the northeastern side of the island, to the north of Arrecife. Once the capital of Lanzarote, Costa Teguise is a superb resort, with many quality hotels and luxury five-star accommodation. Close to the hotels in this area are a range of shops, eateries, a golf course, a water park and Las Cucharus, which features white-sandy beaches and conditions suitable for windsurfing.

Once a fishing port, Playa Blanca stands on the southern side of Lanzarote and has become a superb resort, with many newly developed modern hotels and complexes. Accommodation here varies in price according to the location and facilities, but most hotels in Lanzarote's Playa Blanca area are never far from major entertainment venues and tourist attractions, including a seafront promenade, restaurants and the stunning Papaqayo Beach.

Close to a number of superb beaches, including the popular Playa de Los Pocillos - one of the largest beaches in Lanzarote, hotels in both Los Pocillos and Matagorda offer good value for money and an excellent standard of accommodation, together with many excellent restaurants, speciality shops and apartments.

Arrecife has become the capital on Lanzarote and dates back to the 15th century. As you would expect from a capital, Arrecife has much to offer in the way of hotels and accommodation, together with an impressive skyline and harbour area. Arrecife is home to the tallest building on Lanzarote, the Grand Hotel, which opened in 2004 and dominates the area, offering magnificent views.
