Rimini Property Market and Real Estate Guide

(Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy)

The fashionable Italian coastal resort of Rimini attracts mostly domestic visitors with its sea, sun and sand. The pretentiousness of other Italian Riviera resorts is absent here, making this a great spot for an extended stay.

Coastal properties naturally rank as Rimini's most expensive, but it is possible to find affordable buys inland and in charming villages along the coast, such as romantic Montebello. Rimini's Old Town, largely ignored by visitors, has some quaint property options, although it is La Marina (the Adriatic beachfront) that has the choicest rentals and sales.

Expats are still in the minority in Rimini, so you will need some Italian language skills if you plan on residing here long term. Conveniently, Rimini's international airport serves low-cost flights to other European cities, making the resort a perfect second home location for those who enjoy lively entertainment and beach scenes, and the continual development of the Italian Rivera makes investing in property here a relatively safe bet.

Renting Serviced Apartments

Rimini sees a number of international conferences and trade fairs throughout the year and its accommodation caters well to attendees of these events, as well as the thousands of holiday makers that flock here in the summer months.

The Marino Centro area is where most serviced apartments are situated. Many have beach access, while almost all have modern conveniences such as air conditioning, private balconies and laundry facilities. Serviced apartments are more expensive than regular holiday apartments, but discounts can be garnered out of season in the cold winter months.

Buying Apartments and Houses

It is important you spend time getting acquainted with Rimini's various neighbourhoods before you begin to search for a property. Some areas of the resort are affected by late night noise from bars. Nationals of most countries are able to purchase property here, but all expats are advised to use of a lawyer and a professional estate agent to carry out any transactions.

Property prices along the coast are traditionally high, although Rimini does offer affordable homes inland, as well as attractively priced, centrally situated apartments. Estate agent commission rates vary, but are often around three percent, while other fees include property VAT. Have the property checked for structural problems before making an offer.

Real Estate Agents

Be sure to research various Rimini estate agents before deciding on which one to use. Ideally, you should aim to find an agent that will put your needs and interests first. Check how much commission you will be required to pay as this can vary between agents.
