The plentiful sunny weather is always an important draw card for Kefalonia and the summers are especially enticing.

Many consider the Ionian climate of Kefalonia to be near perfection and the main tourist season begins as early as May, when temperatures climb to around 24°C / 75°F or 25°C / 77°F. Those arriving in spring will be treated to quieter beaches and cheaper accommodation, although the evenings can be quite cool and the water really is too cold for swimming.

By June, the mercury in the thermometer climbs ever further and temperatures soon begin to peak at 30°C / 86°F or more. July and August can feature an even hotter climate, although Kefalonia offers countless shady spots around the coastline, where you can relax out of the sun and enjoy the scenery.

The Ionian winter weather is typically very mild, although it can experience rainy spells, with precipitation levels in December being around 240 mm / 9.5 inches. However, there is still more than enough sunshine to brighten a winter holiday.
