(Kefalonia, Ionian Islands, Greece)

Picture of waterfront lodgingThere is a large amount of accommodation to be found on the island of Kefalonia, although much of the lodging does tend to come in the form of self-catering apartments rather than hotels. Apartments on Kefalonia are always popular with holiday makers and many tend to be booked by tourist operators and then made available as part of a package deal.

However, there are hotels on Kefalonia, and if you are looking for an apartment, it is usually quite easy to find somewhere to stay. However, during the busy summer season, the best accommodation quickly gets booked up and prices soon begin to rise. Hotels and guest houses become much cheaper in the quiet winter months, and some even close completely, reopening again in April.

Many of the hotels line the Argostoli waterfront and are also located on the Plateia Valianou, offering well-placed accommodation and similar lodging to suit all budgets.

One of the most notable hotels on Argostoli's Plateia Valianou is the Hotel Ionian Plaza, which is a very smart place to stay of Kefalonia and features rooms with balconies. However, because the square beneath can become a little noisy during the high season, although outside of the summer months, the Ionian Plaza reduces their prices significantly. Very close to Argostoli, the holiday resort of Lassi offers a more serene and relaxing area, although by night, the open-air bars can become a little noisy for some.
