Turku Airport (TKU) Information

(Turku, Finland Proper, Finland)

Turku Airport is currently listed as the fifth-busiest air facility in the whole of Finland. It began in 1935 as the first civilian airport in Finland, although in a different location. In 1955, it was moved to the Lentokentta district of Turku, where it still stands today. More than 375,000 passengers pass through this busy Finnish airport each year, not to mention roughly 8,000 tonnes of freight traffic, with nearly 14,000 annual flight movements in total.

There are two terminals. Terminal 1, the main building, serves most flights to Scandinavian and Baltic destinations. Terminal 2 is a redeveloped maintenance building that now handles low-cost flights. The terminals are located several hundred metres apart.

Wizz Air and Ryanair provide connections to various destinations across Europe, including London Stansted, Brussels and Malaga. Also of note, airBaltic, Scandinavian Airlines and Turku Air fly from here to major destinations such as Stockholm, Helsinki, Riga, Tallinn and Copenhagen.

It travels directly from the heart of Turku to the airport service road. The E18 is just a short distance to the south of the terminals and connects motorists to Helsinki and St. Petersburg.
