Turku Events and Festivals 2014 / 2015
(Turku, Finland Proper, Finland)

Festivals in Turku are plentiful in the summer months, although even more events are relatively close by in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. Seasonal things to do in Turku include a range of entertainment at central theatres, where the local philharmonic orchestra often performs classical music concerts.
Each July sees crowds flocking to Turku for the ever-popular Medieval Market, which is famed for its atmosphere and traders. Shortly after, the Turku Music Festival each August is amongst the city's biggest and best events, and generally takes place during the second week of August, featuring a successful mixture of classical and modern music, along with operatic performances and concerts.
Turku is regarded as the country's official Christmas city and each year on December 24th, an important religious service take place within the cathedral, reigning seasonal peace down on Finland. Look out too for the Ruisrock, a popular rock festival held close by Turku, on the island of Ruissalo, which has become one of the longest running rock events in the whole of Finland and is held each July.
